1. Describe or define DSS.

Decision Support Systems (DSS)- is a class of computerized information system that supports business and organizational decision-makingIt is an interactive software-based system intended to help decision makers useful information from raw data, documents, personal knowledge, and business.

2. Distinguish DSS from MIS.

DSS is a computerized information system that supports business and organizational decision-making, while MIS in business covers the application of people, documents, technologies, and procedures solving business problems like product, service or a business.

3. Illustrate (give examples) how DSS can improve company's competitive advantage and organizational performance.

DSS can help the company by deciding on pricing, advertising, promotion selection activities.It also help big corporations for making corporate planning & forecasting. It also improve the channel of distribution which very important in selecting store location or inventory mix. Using DSS as a customer buying patterns and fraud detection is very important in insurance companies.
