As a topic before KBS, DSS and VO, identify and describe one company that adopts an MIS. Include in your discussion, how MIS help and support the company, its managers and other employees, in their problem solving and decision-making.

1. Describe or define KBS.

Knowledge-Based Systems focuses on systems that use knowledge-based techniques to support human decision-making, learning and action. Such systems are capable of cooperating with human users and so the quality of support given and the manner of its presentation are important issues.

A computer system this is design to imitate human problem-solving by means of artificial intelligence and reference to a database of knowledge on a particular subject. It uses artificial intelligence or expert system techniques in problem solving processes.

2. Distinguish KBS from MIS.

->A sourced services such as corporate secretarial services, accounting services, or legal services. It does not have a physical (bricks and mortar) presence but exists electronically (virtually) on the internet,it is not constrained by the legal definition of a company, or is formed in an informal manner as an alliance of independent legal entities

2.Distinguish VO from MIS.

->Virtual Office is system use recommended in business like services, compare to MIS, it is a systems that are used to analyze other information systems applied in operational activities in the organization.

3. Illustrate (give examples) how VO can improve company's competitive advantage and organizational performance.

->It enables a network of co-workers to run a business efficiently by using nothing other than online communication technologies

Decision Support Systems (DSS)- is a class of computerized information system that supports business and organizational decision-makingIt is an interactive software-based system intended to help decision makers useful information from raw data, documents, personal knowledge, and business.

2. Distinguish DSS from MIS.

DSS is a computerized information system that supports business and organizational decision-making, while MIS in business covers the application of people, documents, technologies, and procedures solving business problems like product, service or a business.

3. Illustrate (give examples) how DSS can improve company's competitive advantage and organizational performance.

DSS can help the company by deciding on pricing, advertising, promotion selection activities.It also help big corporations for making corporate planning & forecasting. It also improve the channel of distribution which very important in selecting store location or inventory mix. Using DSS as a customer buying patterns and fraud detection is very important in insurance companies.
